La Tratt

Fine dining in western Sydney ... ? say what ? No one ever believes me when i say their is fine dining in western Sydney ...and especially in a RSL. LOL Well trust me when i say its fine dining because it probably one of my favorite places to eat, and the price is great! i only go on weekdays because it is 60$ for 2 entrees what a bargain !
La tratt is located in fairfield rsl, which is pretty modern because they did a renovation.
Anyway i really loved this place that i came twice ! first with my friend Lyn, and then 2nd for my 19th birthday.
So the first time i came here i was very surprised how nice it was and immediately took us to our table, we came on a weds with a booking it had a few people we booked for 630, and it wasnt packed till later on. It felt like we were in a nice restaurant in the CBD, they put the napkin on your lap and everything.
We chose the 3 course menu because it was much cheaper (this menu is only available on weds-fridays i think), it came with 3 course with a free drink and also a appetizer.
The appetizer was bread with dipping oil and some olives.
lol at lyn
The appetizer was a good start to our meal, i love olives but they still had the seed, the dipping oil i wasnt a fan because why would i eat bread soaked in oil, i dont think that sounds appealing whats so ever.
Our entrees came out very quickly, faster then i thought ! The first and second time i went i ordered the same thing which was the crispy pork, im not quite sure what it is called and the menu changes between winter and summer so you probably have to wait to try it if you want.
This entree was much better then the main at Black by ezard it melted in your mouth and was so nice, there wasnt too much fat either. the pickled salad was a nice treat with the pork as it didnt seem too much, but the thing that upset me the most was the pork crackling it wasnt ontop of the pork, but it was smashed into small pieces on the side as a garnish so there was only a sprinkle of some sort of pork crackling, you can see it looks like crushed peanuts on the left side of the photo
But still a great entree and start to the meal on both occasions !
The wait for the main was also not long either !! i think i ordered the slow cooked lamb shanks on the first time i ordered, cooked to medium rare ! i love my meat bloody red ^_^ , it was cooked perfectly ! it was really nice and melted in my mouth and nice and tender, the puree with it was a nice touch to the dish and even though there was not a lot of sauce the meat was that good, that it didnt need sauce.
All mains come with a free side of steamed veggies which is great with a meal, and a nice healthy touch to what you are eating. Isnt la tratt sounding generous or what ?  so far so good.
The second time i came the main i ordered was confit duck
The duck was cooked well and tasted very decedent, the puree was a good touch to the dish adding more flavors, even though there was all different flavors on dish it didnt overpower each other, though in my opinion the first main i had was much nicer ! Tims ordered the main i had last time, though his one wasnt cooked perfectly medium rare it was leaning towards the medium side which was a disappointment that time, because i love my meat cooked perfectly !
Now for dessert, the specialty that everyone orders at La Tratt is the donuts, i didnt get it both times as i let Lyn and Tims get it but i still got to try it ofcourse.
italian donuts, with vanillabean icecream and hazelnut and dulce le leche
The donuts were nice and soft and perfectly cooked, the dough inside wasnt over cooked and was still nice and gooey that it wasnt undercooked either ! the hazelnut and dulce le leche sauce was fab !!! i am not a sweet person so i assumed the sauce would have been sweet but it was just right ! it wasnt too sweet that you would get sick of the sauce, it was enough for you to keep coming back for more ! (dulch le leche icecream from messina is the best ** random note from me hehe)
So as lyn and tims both got that italian donuts for dessert, i ordered the Semi Freddo the first time and Vanilla Pannacotta
Rubarb rose compote, vanilla pannacotta, almond crumble, meringue and fairy floss

I must say i didnt know what a semi freddo was so i ordered it for the food thrill and ofcourse cause it sounded nice it was AMAZING !! i still till this day dont know what it is (yes what kind of foodie am i). it seemed like at the bottom was the hazlenut delce le leche saucce at the bottom with fresh bananas and the semi freddo !the texture was very nice and it wasnt even melting on the plate ! would go back for more !
Next the pannacotta, the pannacotta wasnt as good as the semifreddo but still very enjoyable, the fairy floss ontop gave the dessert a fun touch to it and also a unique touch ! the panna cotta was set well and not under. as whenever i have panna cotta it seems like its not set and all watery !

Overall this restaurant is a must go too if you live in western sydney !! like seriously you have to go, though all the food i have posted is the summer menu and they are currently using the winter menu atm so some of the dishes are different but its still worth a try ! tell me if you do go if the winter menu is good but they also have the normal menu which i must try their pasta as i heard it is great hit  !! i will certainly be going back soon and taking those who havent tried it !! atmosphere service and everything is great !!!
probably my favorite restaurant so far.

Melissa xo :)
